Meet Jordan...

We’re pleased to recognize Jordan Brassil as our February Service Award recipient.

Jordan has been a valued provider with Nashua Center for many years, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to the individuals she supports. In her direct support role, she provides thoughtful and attentive care to individuals who are often medically fragile, always making sure their health, safety, and dignity are at the center of everything she does.

Jordan approaches her work with a high level of compassion and attentiveness, especially when supporting individuals with complex needs. She takes the time to understand each person she supports and works to ensure their voices, preferences, and needs are always represented.

Meet Karen...

We’re happy to recognize Karen Veillette as our January Service Award recipient.

Karen has been part of our Nashua Center Day Services team for 11 years and has worked with the same client for the past six years, building a strong and steady working relationship. She supports her client with staying on schedule and developing a consistent routine, which plays an important role in her overall well-being—especially during the winter months.

Karen has a great balance of warmth and firmness, and that combination works really well with her client's personality. She knows when to encourage, when to push just enough, and how to do it in a way that motivates independence and confidence.

This is a great example of the everyday impact of Nashua Center’s Day Services—support that is thoughtful, consistent, and centered on helping people succeed. We’re grateful for Karen’s long-term commitment and the positive difference she makes each day.

Meet Julie

We are pleased to recognize Julie Moeller as our December Service Award recipient.

Julie is a wonderful provider and a strong advocate for the individual she supports. She consistently goes above and beyond to make sure their interests, preferences, and goals are reflected in everyday experiences. From planning outings to Red Sox games, bowling, dances, and music therapy, to arranging visits with friends and special lunch dates, Julie ensures her client remains active, engaged, and connected to the community.

Julie also has a strong understanding of her client's medical needs and works closely with the guardian, maintaining clear and consistent communication with the entire team. Her attention to detail is evident in her thorough, timely paperwork and in the pride she takes in her work. It’s often noticed that her client is always “dressed to impress,” sporting favorite team gear and ready for any outing.

After three years of working together, Julie has built a trusting, meaningful relationship with her client—one that reflects dedication, respect, and genuine care. We are grateful for her commitment and proud to recognize her as our December Service Award recipient.

Meet Lisa

Each year, Nashua Center presents the Golden Service Award to a team member who represents the very best of who we are. It is our highest honor, given to someone whose dedication, compassion, and steady commitment make an extraordinary difference in the life of someone we serve.

This year, we are proud to recognize Lisa Osborne, one of our exceptional providers whose impact extends far beyond her daily responsibilities.

For 17 years, Lisa has brought her commitment and consistency to Nashua Center. Her connection with our client began when he lived in one of our group homes and she was a member of the staff team. Even then, she stood out as someone who took the time to understand him—his personality, his communication style, and the supports he needed to feel secure and valued. That early connection laid the foundation for a relationship built on trust, respect, and genuine commitment.

As their lives moved forward, Lisa continued to be a consistent and reliable presence. Today, she is with him 24/7 in her role as his provider, supporting every aspect of his daily life. She knows his routines, his preferences, and his body language with a level of understanding that comes only from years of attentive care.

Lisa advocates for him without hesitation. She is the first to notice even the smallest shifts in his symptoms or demeanor and works closely with his medical team to ensure he receives timely and appropriate care. Her insight, communication, and strong relationships with healthcare providers mean she is always included in discussions about his well-being—because her perspective is essential and trusted.

Lisa also makes sure his environment reflects who he is. She fills their home with seasonal decorations, plays his favorite rock and roll music, and encourages moments that help him feel grounded and connected. She welcomes him into her family gatherings, treating him not just as someone she supports, but as part of her extended community.

And even in her spare time, she finds ways to support Nashua Center. The afghans she crochets have become a crowd favorite at our Taste of the Towns Silent Auction.

Lisa represents the heart of Nashua Center. Her consistency, insight, and unwavering advocacy show what it truly means to serve with purpose. She elevates the standard of care and demonstrates the profound difference one person can make.

Meet Danielle

We proudly recognize Danielle Powers as Nashua Center’s October Service Award recipient for her outstanding dedication and care in the LIFE-OP program.

Danielle has been a valued member of the team for several years, and her knowledge, compassion, and steady commitment shine through in everything she does. She is fully invested in her clients’ well-being and goes above and beyond to ensure they receive the support they need to grow and succeed.

Danielle has done an amazing job setting up multiple workstations at the college, focusing on life skills and activities that help clients reach their personal goals. She has a special ability to guide clients through various situations while empowering them to advocate for themselves.

She also takes time on her own to research new strategies and share helpful information with her colleagues, enriching the entire program. A dedicated team player and inspiring role model, Danielle exemplifies the heart of Nashua Center’s mission.

Meet Celeste

We proudly recognize Celeste Gilbert as our August Service Award recipient!

Celeste has been part of Nashua Center for more than 14 years, demonstrating unwavering commitment to the individuals we serve. She began her journey with Classic Home Care and soon transitioned into our Residential Group Homes in Nashua. Later, she joined the Bricketts home in Hampstead, where she continues to be an essential part of the team today.

Over the years, Celeste has also provided respite care for many individuals, offering families peace of mind and ensuring that the people in our programs receive compassionate, consistent support. Her ability to balance multiple roles has made her an invaluable resource across our services.

Earlier this year, Celeste was promoted to DSP2 (Direct Support Professional, Level 2). This title recognizes her advanced skills, years of experience, and leadership in the field. DSP2s are trusted not only to provide high-quality care but also to mentor others, model best practices, and handle additional responsibilities that strengthen the entire program. Celeste embraces this role wholeheartedly, generously sharing her knowledge with colleagues and always willing to step in when needed.

Celeste’s steady presence, expertise, and caring nature make her a cornerstone of the Bricketts team. Her dedication has impacted the lives of countless individuals and families, and we are truly fortunate to have her as part of Nashua Center.

July Service Award

Meet Monica...

We proudly celebrate Monica Draudt as our July Service Award recipient!

Monica has been a dedicated member of our team since May 2020, serving as an Early Intervention Service Coordinator. She joined us during a unique and challenging time, stepping into a role that was rapidly evolving, and brought enthusiasm and adaptability from day one.

When our team faced the transition of losing a seasoned coordinator, Monica rose to the occasion and became the primary service coordinator for Region 10 families. In this role, she is often the first point of contact for new families, building trusting relationships and guiding them through their journey with our program.

Monica has also embraced additional responsibilities, including training new staff and coordinating monthly referrals with our Area Agency, Community Crossroads. Most recently, she completed certificate training to become an Educational Surrogate Parent through the Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education Support. In this important role, Monica advocates for children in foster care—supporting them during their time in Family-Centered Early Supports and Services and helping ensure a smooth transition to Special Education when needed. As one of only a handful of Educational Surrogate Parents in the State of New Hampshire, she is making a meaningful impact beyond our own organization.

Monica’s dedication to children, families, and colleagues—as well as her commitment to serving children across New Hampshire—makes her a truly deserving recipient of this month’s Service Award. Congratulations, Monica!

Meet Kevin ...

We’re proud to recognize Kevin Crowley as our June Service Award recipient for the outstanding care and commitment he brings to his role in our Day Services program.

Kevin has been part of Nashua Center since 2012, and during that time, he’s built a strong and meaningful connection with the individual he supports. When his client moved into Summit’s residential program, Kevin made sure weekly lunch visits with mom stayed part of their routine—something that continues to mean a great deal to her and helps maintain that important family connection.

He’s also someone the family can count on. Whether it’s helping bring in the mail, clearing snow, or assisting with paperwork, Kevin is always ready to lend a hand and offer support beyond his regular responsibilities.

In addition to all that, Kevin brings a creative spark to Nashua Center. He’s the artist behind the swoosh man mural in the hallway—and recently surprised all of us by sitting down at our newly donated piano and showing off some serious musical talent.

Kevin makes sure his client stays engaged, active, and involved in meaningful experiences. We’re grateful for all he brings to Nashua Center and proud to recognize him with this month’s award.

Meet Erica...

Our Remarkable Person spotlight honors individuals who bring energy, creativity, and connection to Nashua Center—and Erica has been doing just that since the day she arrived. Now celebrating her one-year anniversary with us, Erica is part of both our LIFE-OP and Residential Enhanced Family Care Programs, where she continues to brighten every space she’s in.

Erica is best known for her playful spirit and quick sense of humor. April Fools’ Day is her favorite “holiday”, and she’s been pulling pranks since childhood. One of her favorite stories is of tricking her grandmother by pretending to have a cut on her leg—then peeling off a bandage with an enthusiastic “Gotcha!” and a mischievous smile that only Erica could deliver. That same lighthearted energy is something she brings to Nashua Center daily, where she loves to tease staff and share laughs with friends.

But there’s a deeply thoughtful side to Erica, too. As a deaf individual, Erica knows how important communication is—and this year, she took the initiative to launch a pilot class in basic American Sign Language (ASL) for our staff and clients. Her goal is simple but powerful: to help others communicate more easily with her and with others in the deaf and hard-of-hearing community. The class has been a hit so far, and Erica hopes to offer another session this fall. She even created personalized sign names for each participant, adding a meaningful and creative touch to the experience.

Outside of Nashua Center, Erica works two days a week at Market Basket as a bagger and helps keep the store clean and organized by sweeping aisles and tidying shelves. She takes pride in her work and enjoys being part of the team. In her free time, Erica loves to paint—following along with video tutorials to create watercolor pieces. One of her recent pieces was featured in our Taste of the Towns silent auction, where it sparked a bidding war and raised funds to support Nashua Center programs.

Erica and her roommates also share their home with four dogs. She recently welcomed a new pup named Wednesday into the mix and quickly discovered that walking all four at once is a comedy show in itself. “Now I do two at a time,” she laughs. “Much easier!”

Outside of her busy schedule, Erica enjoys relaxing with some of her favorite hobbies—reading anime, playing video games, and spending time at the beach. One of the most meaningful parts of her routine, though, is visiting her grandmother, who lives just a short walk away. The two are very close and share a special bond, along with a love for animals—especially her grandma’s two cats, Sunny and Milo. Sunny is Erica’s favorite because she has “a personality just like mine,” while Milo is more of a cuddler who prefers to nap.

Whether she’s leading a class, helping at the supermarket, painting a new piece, or sharing a laugh, Erica brings her full self to everything she does. We are so proud to recognize her as this quarter’s Remarkable Person.

Erica’s story is just one example of the confidence, creativity, and everyday moments of success made possible at Nashua Center. Through personalized support, inclusive programs, and a strong belief in each person’s potential, we’re proud to help individuals like Erica lead fulfilling lives— filled with independence, purpose, a whole lot of heart, and plenty of fun.

Meet Bryan

We’re thrilled to recognize Bryan Lord as our May Service Award recipient! Bryan is not only a dedicated team member—he’s also a true advocate and friend. His bond with Adam is something truly special. As Adam’s provider for over ten years, Bryan has consistently gone above and beyond to ensure he feels supported, included, and genuinely seen. Whether it’s an outing, a special event, or just a trip to the store, Bryan brings Adam along with care and intention, showing just how deeply he values their relationship.

Bryan is a warm, caring individual who gives wholeheartedly. He’s opened his home not only to Adam, but also to another individual, Lynn—offering a true sense of family and belonging. Together with his mother, Bryan has created a home filled with love, laughter, and comfort, where clients feel safe and welcomed.

He’s also someone who’s always thinking about our clients—how to support them, include them, and brighten their day. When Nashua Center calls, Bryan answers—whether it’s helping with transportation, covering a shift, or stepping in wherever he’s needed. When he visits the Center, he brings his sense of humor, warmth, and a positive attitude that lifts everyone around him.

It is with great appreciation and admiration that we honor Mingma Sherpa for their outstanding and unwavering commitment as a Direct Support Professional (DSP). Throughout his service, Mingma has consistently demonstrated reliability and integrity, showing up each day with a steadfast presence that clients and co-workers alike depend on.

What sets Mingma apart is not only his strong work ethic, but also the deep compassion and empathy he brings to every interaction. He has a remarkable ability to connect with individuals on a personal level. Creating an environment where clients feel truly seen, heard, and valued. Meet Kathy...

Each month, we proudly recognize a staff member who goes above and beyond in their role and exemplifies the values of our work. For March, we are thrilled to honor Kathy, our dedicated occupational therapist at TCP.

Kathy has been in her role as our staff occupational therapist since January of 2012. During her time with TCP she has provided countless hours of consultation in support of our families and her coworkers in addition to carrying her own caseload.

Kathy is an important part of our team, not just because she is our only occupational therapist, but because of her experience, creativity and obvious love for working with our little ones and their caretakers. Kathy brings an enormous amount of empathy and encouragement to all of her families. She is a wonderful listener and truly celebrates every success with her families no matter how big or small.

Kathy has gone beyond her role as a provider to coordinate additional opportunities for our kids and their families. She organized a vision screening clinic with the Lion's Club as well as a toy donation and swap for our families last year prior to Christmas. We are currently planning to hold another swap this summer and hope to continue this tradition moving forward.

Kathy exemplifies what Early Supports and Services is all about. She is a true asset to our team and an amazing support to all of the children and families that she has served over the course of a very dedicated career.

Meet John...

The Residential Department is proud to nominate John McNamara for the February Service Award.

John has been a long-time dedicated provider to two of our clients, both of whom have various medical and support needs. Meet Reshma

Each month, we recognize an employee who goes above and beyond in their commitment to the individuals we support. For January, we are proud to honor Reshma Gurung for her dedication and the positive impact she makes every day.

Reshma ensures that her client leads an active and fulfilling life, filling their days with shopping, volunteering, swimming, exercise and enjoying tea or coffee time at home or at their local Dunkin Donuts. But what truly sets Reshma apart is the warmth and encouragement she brings, creating an environment where her client feels comfortable, supported, and independent. She has even helped make sure there is a special space where her client can enjoy their iPad and puzzles whenever they choose.

Beyond daily activities, Reshma fosters a sense of belonging and security, ensuring her client not only has opportunities to engage in the community but also a home environment where they feel valued and empowered. The care and dedication Reshma brings to her role make a lasting impact, not just on her client but on everyone around her.

Meet Isobel...

We are thrilled to recognize Isobel Graves as December's Service Award recipient! Isobel consistently goes above and beyond in her role, always ready to lend a hand when needed. She has built incredible relationships with her clients, taking the time to be attentive, responsive, and supportive of their individual needs and abilities.

Isobel works closely with her clients to help them reach their goals, from planning their daily schedules to teaching budgeting skills and building social confidence through creative methods like videos and role-playing. She also finds ways to make everyday activities meaningful, such as going shopping together and preparing delicious meals.

Isobel brings fresh ideas to the table and is an invaluable source of creativity and innovation, especially when new approaches are needed. Her positive, upbeat attitude is contagious, creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for both clients and colleagues alike.

Meet Jennifer

The Golden Service Award is Nashua Center’s highest recognition, honoring employees who exemplify extraordinary commitment, integrity, and compassion in their work. This year, we are proud to present this award to Jennifer Ruiz, whose work as a Lead Direct Support Professional (DSP) embodies the mission and heart of Nashua Center.

Jennifer’s dedication shines through in every aspect of her work. Each day, she arrives with a positive attitude, greeting clients and colleagues with a smile that instantly uplifts those around her. Jen’s approach goes beyond fulfilling her duties; she takes the time to get to know each client individually, learning their unique strengths, needs, and goals. Her personal connection with clients helps them feel valued and respected, creating an environment that fosters trust and confidence. Jen's work truly transforms lives, helping each person feel seen, appreciated, and supported.

Her Craft and Cooking Classes are highlights for our clients. In Craft Class, she designs engaging, creative projects that encourage self-expression and build each client’s confidence. Jen ensures that everyone feels included, giving each client the support they need to complete their project with pride. In her Cooking Class, she invites clients to join in every part of meal preparation—from mixing ingredients to chopping vegetables and even seasoning and serving the finished dish. These classes aren’t just about learning skills; they’re about empowerment, independence, and teamwork, and Jen’s guidance makes these experiences joyful and rewarding for all.

Beyond her work with clients, Jen is a respected mentor and role model within our team. As a Lead DSP, she brings knowledge, reliability, and a sense of calm to her role, consistently supporting her colleagues and new team members. Meet Todd

At Nashua Center, we love to celebrate the amazing individuals who make our community so special. This month, our "Remarkable Person" series spotlights Todd, a client in our Day Services program.

Todd is a familiar face at Nashua Center, actively participating in our Day Services program throughout the week. He eagerly takes part in a wide range of community-based activities, from visiting local farms and enjoying our community garden to exploring parks and engaging in our bowling outings. These experiences not only bring him joy but also foster social interaction and personal growth, enhancing his overall well-being.

Center-based activities also play a significant role in Todd's experience at Nashua Center. He finds joy in arts and crafts projects that encourage self-expression and fine motor skills development.

Outside of our programs, one of Todd’s greatest loves is camping with his family, where he creates unforgettable memories around the campfire, hikes through nature trails, and enjoys the peacefulness of the great outdoors. In his free time, Todd indulges in his passion for automobiles by flipping through magazines filled with souped-up cars. He's also a big fan of "The Dukes of Hazzard," often found watching his favorite episodes. Despite his quiet demeanor, Todd is a real people person, appreciated by his peers and staff alike for his warm personality.

Todd's favorite snacks include anything with chocolate, and he loves his Mountain Dew and Pop-Tarts too! His enthusiasm for these treats is just one of the many endearing qualities that make him a favorite among peers and staff alike.

He diligently manages our cardboard recycling efforts, ensuring sustainability with dedication and efficiency. He also excels in restocking supplies, carefully filling carts and pushing them to our restrooms and locker rooms to ensure everything is well-stocked and organized.

Meet Jim

We are delighted to recognize Jim Foppiano as June’s Service Award recipient at Nashua Center. Jim's dedication and service span an impressive 19 years, during which he has shown unwavering commitment and care in his role.

Jim primarily works one-on-one with Laurie, a woman of many words, and has established a remarkable relationship with her. There is literally nothing Jim wouldn't do for Laurie. Together, they have enjoyed countless activities, from visits to the Care Farm and trips to the salon for haircuts to tending the raised beds at the Ledge Street Garden, bowling, and engaging in hand-over-hand crafts, just to name a few.

In addition to these enriching activities, Jim plays a crucial role in Laurie's physical well-being. He assists Laurie in the stander for weight bearing and supports her in the gait trainer, encouraging her to walk around the building. Jim's dedication extends to his meticulous paperwork, which is always timely and well-written. He is a steadfast advocate for Laurie, ensuring her needs and interests are always represented.

Jim's reliability is unmatched; he never calls out and consistently ensures the building is securely shut down every Friday. He has also embraced new responsibilities, such as conducting daily medication counts for day services, and keeps supervisors updated with any building maintenance needs.

Meet Lisa

We are excited to present May's Monthly Service Award to Lisa Osborne, an outstanding provider in our Residential Program. Lisa has been a vital part of our Nashua Center team since 2005 and became a home provider in 2008.

Lisa's story is truly inspiring. She has been a devoted friend and caregiver to Tom, whom she met when he was in a group home. When Tom faced being placed in hospice care, Lisa stepped up, confident she could help improve his health and ensure he received the necessary services. Thanks to her efforts, Tom was able to stay at home through the EFC placement program, avoiding hospice care.

Lisa's strong bond with Tom shows in how well she understands him. She knows all about his background and family and can tell if something is wrong just by looking at him. Over the past decade, Tom has become part of Lisa's family, welcomed by her children and grandchildren.

As a provider, Lisa shows dedication and compassion. Her experience and knowledge have made her an important part of our Nashua Center community. Both colleagues and clients appreciate her commitment to providing the best care. Lisa creates a warm, supportive environment for those she cares for, reflecting her character and professionalism.

Meet Richie

At Nashua Center, we are proud of the inclusive and supportive community we’ve built, where individuals with disabilities or acquired traumatic brain injuries can thrive. This May, we’re excited to highlight Richie, one of our exceptional Residential Program clients, as our Remarkable Person.

Richie’s journey is truly inspiring. When he first came to Nashua Center, he relied on a wheelchair for mobility. Through hard work and determination, Richie progressed to walking with braces, then a cane, and now, he walks independently. His remarkable progress is a testament to his incredible spirit and the supportive environment here.

Richie recently celebrated his birthday at one of his favorite spots, Lilac Blossom, enjoying delicious their food as the true foodie he is. He also loves the fiery flavors at Dave’s Hot Chicken, always brave enough to order the hot spice level, and enjoys breakfast delights at Tucker’s. It comes as no surprise that Richie had a great time at our Taste of the Towns event, enjoying the variety of foods offered.

Speaking of food, Richie is also nurturing his own culinary skills. His next goal is to cook independently, and he’s already known for his tasty Mississippi Pot Roast prepared in the crockpot. He even made a special Mother’s Day lunch for Nora, our Director of Operations, showcasing his growing culinary expertise.

Richie’s relationship with his daughter is one of the most important parts of his life. They share a special bond and plan fun adventures together, like fishing trips where they catch and release. Richie jokes that he’s not much of a swimmer—he sinks—but they always have a great time together.

About four months ago, Richie took a big step towards independence by getting a job at U-Haul. He secured the position on his own and now works a few days a week in maintenance, with hopes of increasing his hours. Richie’s dedication to keeping things tidy extends beyond his job to his living space as well.

Physical fitness is another area where Richie shines. He stays active by working out at FitLab, with a particular focus on cardio exercises. Richie is also a dedicated sports fan, with a particular love for baseball, a sport he played during his time in Milford.

The sense of community at Nashua Center is something Richie holds dear. He treasures his relationships with Nora, Kerri, and Samantha, considering them his extended family. Speaking of family, Richie also values the time he spends with his sisters, nieces, and nephews, further enriching his family connections.

Richie’s story is a powerful example of overcoming challenges and reaching personal goals through hard work and community support. We are incredibly proud to have Richie as part of our Nashua Center family and are thrilled to celebrate his remarkable journey this May.

Meet Cailin

We are delighted to announce Cailin as the recipient of this month's Service Award at Nashua Center. Cailin has been in her role as service coordinator since August of 2021 and has been a wonderful addition to our TCP team.

As a service coordinator Cailin serves as the first contact for parents and continues to support families as they progress through our program. In addition, she supports our providers in a variety of ways such as providing community resources for families and ensuring that all compliance indicators are met as mandated by state and federal regulations.

Cailin is always willing to jump in and lend a hand within our program and has volunteered at the annual Taste of the Towns fundraiser every year since she has joined Nashua Center. Cailin embodies numerous qualities that have made her an exceptional addition to our team. She is organized, thorough and reliable but her most outstanding qualities are demonstrated through the kindness and compassion that she extends to each and every family she serves.

Cailin represents all of the care and positivity that we strive to share with our families every day and in doing so represents our program at the highest level.

Meet Ella and Parker

In April, our spotlight shines brightly on Nashua Center's The Children's Pyramid (TCP) program, where personalized care, play-based learning, and holistic development are at the heart of everything we do. This month, as part of our "Our Remarkable People" series, we proudly introduce you to Ella and Parker, affectionately known as "Our Remarkable Kids," whose journey within the TCP program exemplifies resilience, growth, and achievement.

Heather and Steve, Ella, and Parker's parents, share their remarkable journey and the significant progress their children have made. Reflecting on their experience with TCP, Heather emphasizes how TCP's tailored approach, flexibility, and open communication have played a crucial role in meeting Ella and Parker's unique needs. She highlights TCP's incorporation of play-based learning, utilizing both provided and household toys to stimulate her children's curiosity. Meanwhile, Steve echoes Heather's sentiments, expressing gratitude for the program's support and dedication to their children's development.

But amidst the milestones and achievements, Ella and Parker remain just kids at heart. Ella's adventurous spirit leads her to explore every corner of their home, her curiosity piqued by every new discovery. Meanwhile, Parker finds joy in the simple pleasures, relishing his snacks with enthusiasm and delight.

Memorable moments within TCP include significant progress in mealtimes, reducing stress, and improving feeding skills. Additionally, Ella and Parker's ability to play independently and near each other has flourished, showcasing the program's holistic approach to development.

TCP offers invaluable support, including home visits, accessibility via phone and email, and connections to additional resources like the Nutrition/Feeding/Swallowing program through Amoskeag Health. Ella and Parker particularly enjoy 1:1 home playtime and participating in community activities like My Gym class. Outside TCP, they love watching Mickey Mouse, exploring new spaces, dancing to music by Elvis Presley and Elton John, and of course take delight in watching bubbles float by!

Heather and Steve highlight numerous obstacles her children have overcome with TCP's support, such as Parker walking independently and Ella becoming more independent in play and mealtimes. To parents considering TCP, they enthusiastically recommend taking advantage of the program's benefits. They praise TCP's respectful and caring therapists who support children's learning in their own environment at their own pace.

Looking ahead, Heather and Steve hope to continue supporting Ella and Parker's progress, armed with the tools and knowledge gained from TCP. They express gratitude for TCP's dedicated staff—Sarah, Barb, and Kathy—recognizing their compassion, flexibility in scheduling, and exceptional care for Ella and Parker.

As we conclude our focus on Nashua Center’s Adult Day Program during the month of March, we're excited to share the inspiring story of one of our valued clients, Adam.

Our Adult Day Program serves as a cornerstone of support for individuals with disabilities, offering a structured and nurturing environment where they can engage in a variety of activities tailored to their interests and needs. For Adam, and many others, this program is not just a place to spend the day; it's a lifeline—a source of empowerment, growth, and social connection.

Adam's journey with Nashua Center has been one of remarkable growth and achievement. He's been part of our program since its early days, and his dedication and progress over the years are truly impressive. For the past two decades, Adam has been a familiar face at Market Basket, where he recently resumed his role in the Flower Department after a temporary break due to COVID-19. With our support, Adam tends to the plants with care, ensuring they thrive. If you're ever at Market Basket off exit 8 on a Monday morning, be sure to give him a friendly hello.

Outside of work, Adam's interests and hobbies reveal his vibrant personality. He's a dedicated fan of New England sports teams, especially the Red Sox. Adam also enjoys friendly competitions like bingo and bowling, where he not only shows off his skills but also builds strong connections with others. He's also known among family as the "cool uncle" and brings enthusiasm to every role he embraces.

In his downtime, Adam is a fan of Star Trek and enjoys singing along to his favorite tunes in the car when he thinks no one's listening. He has a sweet tooth for chocolate pudding and enjoys spending quality time with loved ones, whether it's attending outdoor concerts or catching up with friends in Florida. Adam's diverse interests and love for adventure highlight his well-rounded personality.

Meet Nikki

This year’s annual Golden Service Award Recipient goes to a very special individual. Identifying just one individual each year, in a pool of people who continuously go above and beyond, is no small feat. This person is nominated by supervisors and peers, and then thoroughly considered to ensure that service has been superior, always meets the mission, and makes a genuine difference in the lives of families and individuals whom we serve.
This year, when faced with the task of choosing a recipient, the response was unanimous. There is an individual here tonight who has put self aside and risen as a leader and a team player time and time again. This evening, I am fortunate to have the honor of announcing Nicole Hart as Nashua Center’s Golden Service Award Recipient.
Nicole started her journey with Nashua Center over 8 years ago. In her early days with Nashua Center, Nicole started as a Direct Support Professional in the LIFE-OP program. Nicole worked with several individuals, supporting their needs with dignity and grace. Nicole was very receptive to learning in her role, and she always came in with a positive attitude and an openness to try new things in order to best adapt to and meet the needs of the young adults in the LIFE-OP program. Her supervisor at the time, Nora Driscoll, saw many strengths within Nicole and knew that she was ripe to grow and mature into new roles.
There came a time when The Children’s Pyramid was looking for a Family Support Associate (we refer to is as FSA), which is an important and critical service coordination role. This role is multi-faceted, handling the coordination of important paperwork and detailing for family eligibility, scheduling therapy sessions, ensuring documentation requirements are met for regulations, and really serves as the backbone of The Children’s Pyramid team approach to therapeutic services. This was an opportunity for Nicole to grow and develop, and she embraced the opportunity, and Nora knew it was a new chapter that Nicole deserved and was ready for.
Flash forward 5 years….. Nicole has been not just successful in her role as an FSA, but thriving and often rising to leadership status when it’s time to take on new projects, or just maintaining the basic services at times when the cards seemed against us. Let us not forget that The Children’s Pyramid marched its way through the pandemic. What was a program based solely on individualized home therapy visits, turned to tele-health virtually overnight. This required new technology, reorganization, new methods of communication, virtual learning and signatures from families, and more. It was literally flipping the program on its head. And who was there to assist with all of those changes in a time of dire need? Nicole Hart. In her calm demeanor, bringing her youthful knowledge of technology and solutions, offering to train both staff and families alike…. She was a beacon of strength at a time when The Children’s Pyramid most needed it.
Now, 3 years out from the onset of the pandemic, Nicole has weathered so many alterations and changes. As we rolled out of the shelter-in-place, we started re-entering homes, we added a satellite office in Derry, and maintained the office in Nashua. Nicole bounces from location to location, maintaining critical communication with her team and her families, ensuring that all of the essential functions are met. And, due to her elevated scrutiny on detail and accuracy, we have remained in 100% compliance on all documentation regulations year after year.
I would also be remiss if I did not share that Nicole goes above and beyond her role in another way. Each year, we have our infamous Taste of the Towns fundraiser. Nicole, in her eagerness to help the organization as a whole, has been a part of the hard-working committee for several years. Nicole has the daunting job of soliciting vendors and organizations for silent and live auction items. Hundreds of emails, several pages of excel tracking, and helping to put it all together for the day of event…. Nicole has brought us several thousand dollars in contributions through her extra efforts.

Nicole, I speak for all of us here at Nashua Center, when I say that you embody the spirit of our mission and values. You go above and beyond to meet the needs of the individual, the family, the program, your team, and this organization. We are grateful for your service and your professionalism. And we couldn’t have made it through these last few years without you. I am thrilled to share with you this Golden Service Award.

Meet Amanda

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month, a time to celebrate the invaluable contributions of individuals with diverse abilities. At Nashua Center, Amanda's remarkable journey not only highlights this celebration but also serves as a testament to the LIFE-Op program's core mission and impact. LIFE-Op, or "Learning Independence through Fundamental Education & Opportunities," doesn't just create job prospects; it nurtures personal growth.
It all started with Amanda’s parents, who set the wheels in motion for Amanda to join the SNH Speech Therapy & Learning Center (SNHTLC). A significant role was also played by Jen Francis, owner of SNHTLC, who was open to giving this opportunity a try. With just a few hours a week to start, Amanda's work started to take shape, thanks to the support of Nashua Center's LIFE-Op job coaches. Over time, her dedication and progress transformed her into an integral part of the SNHTLC workforce.
Starting with simple tasks like vacuuming and shredding, Amanda has taken on more responsibilities at work. This journey not only reflects her professional growth but also the valuable skills she's gained through the guidance of her job coach. It's remarkable to see how her work-life and personal life have beautifully woven together, with Amanda now contributing to tasks at home.
Amanda's vibrant spirit also shines during SNHTLC's Polar Express Week, where her love for costumes takes center stage. In her Conductor's outfit, she welcomes children to read and participate in activities, creating a magical experience that brings joy to everyone involved. This is a true reflection of Amanda's commitment to her work and her ability to spread happiness to those around her.
SNHTLC is a place where Amanda found her path, and it's a testament to their commitment to inclusivity. Not only do they provide inclusive treatment, but they also actively promote inclusive employment. Amanda's presence has proven that individuals with developmental disabilities have the potential to make significant contributions to the workforce.
Beyond her job, Amanda's life is a vibrant tapestry of diverse experiences, interests, and pursuits. Her adventurous spirit, creativity, love for family, and passion for music and dance are all essential elements that make her a truly remarkable individual. Amanda's personal experiences exemplifies the idea that life is meant to be lived to the fullest, and her pursuits reflect boundless passion and purpose.
Amanda's boundless energy shines through in her friendly step-counting competition with our Program Director, Nora Driscoll. In their latest challenge, Amanda triumphed with an impressive lead of over 4700 steps - now, that's a victory! Her daily goal is to reach 8500 steps, a feat she accomplishes during her walks at LIFE-Op or through home workouts. Recently, Amanda not only met her goal but exceeded it, amassing an astounding 13,000 steps and raising nearly $1,300 for the annual CROP Walk she wholeheartedly participates in. What an incredible achievement! It's clear that her dedication and enthusiasm extend far beyond her work life.
Amanda's journey showcases the transformative power of programs like LIFE-Op, empowering individuals with developmental disabilities to unlock their full potential, both in the workforce and in life. Amanda’s story inspires all who have the privilege of knowing her, demonstrating that with determination, support, and the right environment, individuals can overcome challenges and create a life filled with passion and purpose.

Meet Shannon...

Shannon Davis

We would like to nominate Shannon Davis for the monthly service award for the month of August 2023.
Shannon has been working for the Nashua Center in the Day Service Program since April 2021. Shannon is willing to help with any task asked of her. She is flexible, as her schedule can change at a moment’s notice, and takes it all in stride.
Shannon works with 3 lovely individuals and does it with respect and ease. She is always trying to keep the individuals she works with involved in different activities. Some activities include going to the garden, shopping, bowling, and working on craft projects. She goes above and beyond to keep clients engaged as well as always promoting growth and independence.
Most recently, Shannon has been assisting the Residential Department in finding a new home for one of the Day Program individuals she supports. Shannon's overall insight and knowledge of her friend was admirable and her ability to flex her normal daily schedule to ensure this individual was well supported and served was touching. The Residential Team wants to highlight Shannon for her dedication and positive attitude throughout this placement.

Meet Danielle

Allow us to introduce you to Danielle, a truly exceptional individual who holds a special place within the Nashua Center family. At 36 years young, Danielle’ s journey has been nothing short of inspiring, making her one of the true gems among Nashua Center’s “Remarkable People”.
Danielle has found her place in the heart of our LIFE-OP Program. Her story radiates the spirit of our center - a place where individuality is celebrated and growth knows no bounds - and as you will see she is quite an achiever.
She chose Nashua Center because we are not, as she puts it, “cookie-cutter.” She was very attracted by the fact that our programs are “specifically for the individual.” Danielle says what she likes best at Nashua Center is “how they genuinely care about people. They really try to help you when you have a problem.”
Now, let’s talk about Danielle, the person. She refers to herself as a high functioning person, radiating positivity. She's like a ray of sunshine - brimming with leadership qualities, a knack for humor, and a love for stepping onto the public speaking stage. Danielle’s cheerful and upbeat nature makes one feel like they are chatting with an old friend. And yes, she admits to occasionally getting caught up in the excitement of a conversation and finds it difficult to hit the pause button. She adds, with a little laugh, she’s working on that.
Danielle proudly wears the badge of a “social butterfly,” fearlessly taking on issues and exploring new things. Among her proudest achievements was attending, and most importantly, receiving a certificate in early childhood education from Nashua Community College. The driving force behind this achievement? “I love little kids.” There were challenges along the way, of course.
In Danielle’s words: “I decided when I was 31 or 32, and struggling with all the homework, that I needed help or I never would finish”. She connected with Nashua Center’s Sandra Fontaine, the Programmatic Lead of LIFE-OP, and says “I was able to get my certificate because of Sandy who is very organized and makes sure all guidelines are followed.”
Danielle calls her parents her biggest supporters, and she lives with them. Sometime in the future Danielle says she wants to live independently but, in the meantime, she says she is busy working on what she calls “my stuff.”
She is also busy being one of Nashua Center’s Remarkable People.
Danielle’s journey is a reminder that within each challenge lies an opportunity, and with the right support, one can achieve remarkable feats.

Meet Randy

Randall Lagios

We would like to express our appreciation to one of our long-term employees, Randy Lagios. Randy started working for Nashua Center in June of 1998. Along his journey of 25 years, Randy has held several different positions. He has worked with a team of six individuals, teams of two and three individuals, and had several 1:1 positions, which he is currently in now.
A highlight that stands out to the team was a very special bond that Randy formed with brothers Rick and Tom as well as their mom and dad Lucile and Romero. Randy would see to it that they had weekly visits to the woodwork shop and lunch dates with their parents. He would also help during the workday and on his own time when the parents got on in their years with their personal doctor appointments, grocery shopping and any other errands they had.
Another highlight that stands out to the team is the special bond that Randy has with Noah. A special note from Noah’s mom when Noah wakes up in the morning is Noah saying, “Go See Randy”. Mom has also shared that Noah talks about Randy all the time at home. As a side note the team has noticed that Randy has become a much better cook since working with Noah.
Part of Randy’s job is to ensure that all individuals are active members of the community. Randy always goes above and beyond when assisting individuals in the community with swimming, horseback riding, trips to the movies, volunteer positions at local schools, paid positions at local grocery stores, day trips to the fairs, outings at local parks, volunteering at Woodlawn cemetery to water the flowers, meals on wheels, and volunteering at the Salvation Army as a bell ringer. There really isn’t much Randy has not done or has not been willing to do, over the years. Randy is a team player, advocate, kind soul, and we are very lucky to have him as part of our team.

Meet Tricia

We would like to nominate Tricia Harding for the monthly service award for the month of January 2023. Tricia has been working for the Nashua Center in the Day Services Program since May 3, 2016. Tricia is always willing to help with any task. She works with some of the most challenging clients and does it with respect and ease. She can change her schedule at a moment’s notice if we need her to work with a different client, change her Van Run, teach a Class, run Bingo, or go shopping for supplies. She is always trying to come up with new games for the clients to get involved in. Last summer the temperatures were so hot, and clients had to stay in the building, so Tricia made up table bowling, hallway cornhole and some incredible craft projects out of wood scraps. She goes above and beyond to keep our clients engaged as well as always promoting growth and independence. Tricia is very aware of her surroundings and that of others. Without hesitation she jumps into action when anyone needs help regardless of whether she is directly working with them or not. She always stays calm so others around remain calm as well. Meet Billy

Billy Abbott

This month's Monthly Service Award was received by Billy Abbott, a long time Enhanced Family Care Provider and friend of Nashua Center. Billy always goes above and beyond the call of duty to provide the best care for his roommate. Not only does Billy provide all of the residential support for his roommate, but since the onset of Covid he has taken over the 24/7 care and facilitation of his services. Meet Devon

Devon McGrath has been nominated for the Monthly Service Award for October. Devon has been a DSP in the LIFE-OP Program for a little over two years. She recently also started working at the Brickett’s Mill group home in Hampstead.
Devon has no problem working with multiple people throughout the day or transporting multiple people to and from the Center. She will do anything asked of her and more times than not offering before she is even asked.
Devon has really grown during her time here, letting her creativity shine through the monthly bulletin board designs she crafts in the hallway at 18 Simon, to the hairstyles she does on every client who asks, along with the nail polish she paints on their fingers. Devon goes out of her way to make sure everything and everyone is taken care of daily, often stepping up first in any time of need.
Devon teaches a weekly social skills class, brings a few people to a music class every Monday in Manchester, is working on a new test program called Avail which will help individuals stay focused and on track at work. She also helps with any craft projects, and goes to the gym with several people every week as well.
Devon joined the Brickett’s Mill team in May of 2022. She embraced the ladies and has proven herself invaluable! She has taken the ladies to community outings as well as shared her training with other team members. Devon is able to help with ALL the in-house responsibilities too. Devon embodies the mission statement of the Nashua Center and is the future of our programs.

Meet Michelle

Michelle Wurster

Michelle Wurster is an Assistant Manager at a Nashua Center group home. Michelle completes a “dynamic duo” with her colleague, House Manager Erin Giuffre, and goes above and beyond the call of duty to ensure the safety, health, and happiness of the women who live in the home. Michelle is a person who pays attention to all of the little details, rolling up her sleeves to make sure that care is provided at the highest quality because it truly matters. At the same time, Michelle is always looking out for the bigger picture, which is the importance of providing quality supports that lead to enhancing and improving the lives and independence of the three women she is responsible for. During a time at the height of Covid and peak holiday season, Michelle was asked to quarantine and shelter in place during a potential outbreak. This was an ask that required putting her own personal life at a complete pause for 10 full days in order to maintain the health of the women in the home and the greater community. I can think of no greater ask or sacrifice of an employee. And Michelle, in her always “can do” approach and style, rose to the occasion without a blink. Her mission was clear and she entered these tumultuous times with grace, ease, and without pause. Michelle does not claim herself to be a leader because she is so humble, but all of us at Nashua Center see her precisely as that. She is a natural leader who builds wonderful relationships with clients, fellow colleagues, and family members of those we serve. Michelle is a true testament to quality service and Nashua Center is fortunate to have her as one of our very essential employees.

Meet John

John Casey has been nominated for Monthly Service Award for June 2022. John has been an outstanding employee making it hard to believe he has only been with us for six months. He comes in every day with an upbeat, positive can-do attitude. John has the respect of all coworkers, clients, parents, providers and supervisors alike.
John is a natural and one of those employees who catches on quickly, he’s very easy to train, he listens and takes it all in asking questions as needed. John is always willing to do what is asked of him, is always very flexible usually going above and beyond the call of duty. John gets his paperwork in on time and does a great job filling out the content.
John has trained with almost all clients in both LIFEOP and Day Services, welcoming any new challenges presented to him. John does not hesitate to jump in whenever anything is needed to ensure all clients needs are met. John, after recently being van trained, worked with Aaron bringing him to a skate park where he could watch, enjoy and talk about one of his passions, skateboarding. John takes Richie to the gym weekly, for haircuts and fishing or any other activity he would like always offering encouragement. John has a great bond with Todd as well, allowing him to take him by the arm to wherever he wants him to be or seek him out to tell him what he needs.
Several of John’s coworkers have commented about how wonderful and natural he is with all he encounters. He makes sure to greet everyone with a friendly “hi, how’s it going”, “do you need anything”, “how was your weekend”, “what are you doing today”, “do you want to watch Dukes of Hazard Todd, let’s go put it on”! He is never overwhelmed with anything thrown his way. We need more people like John in this world.

Meet Danielle

Danielle Kent

It is our pleasure to nominate Danielle Kent for the monthly service award for May. Danielle has been working at Nashua Center since March of 2021. She comes to work every day with an upbeat attitude, regardless of how her morning has started. She arrives with this attitude and spreads that positivity to everyone throughout her day. She is very engaging and says hello to all she passes; most times she will say something to make you smile or have a good laugh for the day. Danielle is extremely well liked by peers and clients alike.
Danielle is a great employee. She cares for the people she works with and makes sure each one of them has the best day possible! She works very hard to make sure her documentation is accurately written and submitted on time. Danielle is always willing to do what is asked of her. She always offers to help other staff when needed and is always up for trying new things. She does all of this with a smile!
Danielle started her employment with Nashua Center during a trying time. There was uncertainty due to the pandemic, if we would stay open or close, or whether clients would attend Day Services or stay home. She took all that uncertainty in stride. Schedules would change on a daily basis, but that did not stop Danielle from asking “What would you like me to do today?”
The majority of people that Danielle works with can be challenging, she stays calm, focused and gets tasks done. She does a great job promoting independence with clients. She stays busy and has a good work ethic. One peer has even said “he wishes we could clone her”. Nashua Center is grateful to have such a fantastic employee. Danielle is one of several staff that have been a great influence on Todd, he has made amazing strides. He is more engaging and social with everyone, and has made great strides with his goals and communication.
For all these reasons and more, Danielle has been chosen as employee of the month for May. We all look forward to continue working with Danielle.

Meet Barbara

Barbara Anderson
My son was discharged from Early Intervention this week and we had such an amazing experience that I wanted to reach out to see if there is anything we can do to further recognize his team members. If there is any type of award that we can nominate them for or anywhere I can share my story (below) I would be happy to. We had an amazing experience with both Bonnie Eckerman and Barb Anderson, but the information below specifically relates to Barb (since Bonnie is a contractor and since my son formed an extra special connection with Barb that I find so remarkable given the fact that we only met in person a handful of times). We feel like Barb is a diamond in the rough and the thank you gift we gave her just doesn’t feel like enough in terms of recognition. If there is anything else we can do, please let me know. Thank you for connecting us with such a special group of people, we are so grateful for the progress our son has made because of them.

Our story:
My son Carter began early intervention with PT because he could not lift his head when on his belly at 5 months old. After about a year of PT, his team suggested that we meet with Barb to begin pre speech services, in hopes that he would never need to transition to speech services. When we began, I did not have high hopes because we were in the middle of a pandemic, so I figured it would be very difficult for my son to engage with a total stranger via zoom. He was very hit or miss with his PT sessions and he never had much interest in FaceTime even with family at the time (beyond a quick hello). I had also heard from other EI moms that zoom was highly ineffective. So we moved forward, but I had very low expectations. However, I was clearly underestimating the magic of Barb Anderson. She truly is one of a kind and we couldn’t be more grateful for what she did for Carter. When we started working with her, he was very quiet and timid, and now he speaks nonstop and in nearly full sentences. She somehow was able to not only keep him engaged, but to absolutely captivate him. The impact she was having was undeniable as he walked around the house repeating things they worked on together that week (using the same inflection and everything). He was even requesting to call her on days we didn’t have a session. He developed such a close bond with her that his friends and family knew all about her (and the special nickname he created for her).
The fact that she was able to form this deep connection with him in the middle of a pandemic while meeting only remotely, is just amazing. It’s a true testament to how great she is at her job. She brings so much energy and enthusiasm to each session, she takes the time to get to know the child and builds their interests into her games/exercises, and she gets creative when she can tell they’re losing interest. She has a natural gift when it comes to connecting with children and she is extremely dedicated to her job. She is always well prepared, always positive and she works hard to make the most of each session. She made my son feel special and loved and because of that, he continues to ask about her almost every day. It made saying goodbye extremely difficult, which is something I never thought I would say about EI. I can’t even imagine how effective she must be when her sessions are all in person. She is so smart, so talented, and someone we will never ever forget.

Meet Pam

Pam Fanjoy
It is without hesitation that we ask to nominate Pam Fanjoy for the monthly service award, for the month of October.
Pam has been an employee of Nashua Center since October of 2017 and has worked with a variety of individuals during her time within the Residential program. No matter the individual she works with, or the challenges presented to her, Pam maintains her calm demeanor, neutral body language and optimistic attitude and great sense of humor.
Pam displays a never-ending supply of patience and consistency when providing care to the individuals she works with. She is a hard worker, dependable, excellent attendance and follows through with all tasks she starts.

Meet Susan

Monthly Service Award Sue works very well with Adrienne. Sue is very patient and kind when explaining activities to Adrienne. Sue does a nice job following Adrienne’s daily schedule and always lets a supervisor know if there are any changes to their day. Sue always checks in to make sure they are doing things according to Adrienne’s individualized plan. Sue is very respectful of everyone she is around, and she is always looking out for Adrienne’s best interest and is doing a great job with keeping Adrienne involved in activities throughout each day. Sue handles many situations in such a calm way and redirects Adrienne in the direction that she needs to go. They are a very good team.
Give a shout out to Sue Benoit!! Sue started with Nashua Center in 2019 as a DSP and has worked with several clients successfully. Over the past 2 ½ years Sue has made a special bond with Adrienne. Sue is always patient and kind when talking to Adrienne, supporting her in her varying activities, and encourages her to be her best and most independent self. Sue has kept up her great attitude even in the challenging Covid times we have had. Thank you for all your hard work!
Sue has always been a great employee and has maintained great communication with Adrienne’s roommate to ensure consistent services. Sue does a great job with helping Adrienne see her family, she is always willing to go to them or meet them anywhere. Sue is extremely flexible and goes the extra mile in her job. Sue is always encouraging Adrienne to work independently, she’s patient and waits for her to try new things to encourage her independence. Adrienne has made great strides in her walking and independence, and that is in large part to Sue being so consistent and encouraging. Sue’s progress notes are also great and descriptive and they demonstrate the wide range of support and services that Adrienne receives. Sue is a pleasure to work with and she is always willing to work on whatever is asked and she asks for help when needed. Sue always has a great attitude and is a true asset to Nashua Center.

Meet Sandy

Congratulations to Sandy Fontaine on being named the Employee of the Month for May 2021.
Sandy started her career with the LIFE-OP Program in August, 2015. During this time she has worked with several young adults with varying abilities all with confidence and ease. Sandy always has a can-do attitude and is dedicated to all she provides services for, treating them with dignity and respect.
Throughout this pandemic Sandy has been integral in keeping things running in the LIFE-OP Program. Sandy’s dedication, reliability, and work ethic are unparalleled. She took the lead with tackling multiple activities simultaneously; from crafts, to heading a weekly zoom, to cooking various dishes for building culinary skills. Sandy worked with Colin to create a Chinese New Year Covid Party. They planned for the party weeks in advanced. She was able to work with him to make and hand out invitations, plan and cook all the food, decorate the café and make and hand out fortune cookies. Colin was extremely proud of this elaborate activity and it also gave everyone a big lift at the center.
She is a wonderful employee and we value all that she brings to not only us but all those she works with every day.

Many times Sandy makes herself available after hours and weekends to help students with class assignments and deadlines. Meet Jim

Employee of the Month
We would like to nominate Jim Foppiano for the April 2021 employee of the month. Jim has had an outstanding year. Given the unusual circumstances this year due to the pandemic, Jim remained a consistent and dedicated employee. His work ethic and genuine passion for his job make him a valuable employee and one that deserves recognition for making a difference. He has always been a dedicated employee but this year he has far exceeded our expectations. He truly loves this company and will do what is needed to improve the quality of services we provide. Jim’s dedication is evident in the fact that for all the years he has worked for this company he has never taken the full amount of earned time off he is entitled to, and when reminded that he has time to take he always responds with “I would rather come to work.” Jim has a great sense of humor and brings that humor to his job daily. When Jim came back to work from quarantine, he did an exceptional job as a handy man, painting whatever was asked of him around the building. He also makes sure the building is sterilized at the end of each day. Over the years, we have watched Jim work with many different people and seen the impact that he has had on their lives. He excels in forming honest, compassionate connections with everyone he works with, no matter who that may be. Jim always manages to represent not only himself, but Nashua Center in the best possible way. Currently, Jim works 1 to 1 with Laurie, and has done an amazing job. He has helped her by working on building her stamina back up with walking several times daily and using the stander. He helps her to be engaged in activities that she enjoys throughout the day. He is always asking managers and front office staff if they have any work he and Laurie can do for them. Laurie’s sister/guardian has commented several times in emails and meetings at how happy she is with Jim for the care he shows towards Laurie. She is truly very thankful. Jim Foppiano embodies everything that Nashua Center represents and is not only a valued member of our team, but a great person and friend. Meet Joy and Jeanne

Meet 53 year old Joy Barsoian and 39 year old Jeanne Hendricks. This is the story of how they came to live together. Joy was 21 at the time and Jeanne was 7.
It was 33-years ago, and Joy was living outside of New York after college where she received a degree in psychology and human development. Joy’s sister was working for a residential program in NH and wanted to be close to Joy so she set up job interviews for her. One of them involved Jeanne, who has hyperactivity and seizure disorders and who suffered a stroke when she was 2 years old. According to Joy, Jeanne needed to be helicoptered out of her home for treatment on almost a daily basis until she was finally removed to a residential program. That’s where Jeanne was on the day she met Joy. Joy says Jeanne took one look at her and offered to share her toys. “Instant connection,” says Joy. So Joy moved to New Hampshire, which proved to be life changing for both women. Joy worked with Jeanne from age 7 to 14 in a residential and school setting. Jeanne began to spend her weekends at Joy’s home when she was about 14 years old. As Joy remembers, “I was watching all the kids go home for the holidays and Jeanne would just stand at the door. I told her she’d always have me, that I’d always be there for her.” Jeanne moved full time into Joy’s home, with Joy as her guardian. It was supposed to be temporary until a provider could be found to provide a permanent living solution. Enter Nashua Center leadership, who urged Joy to also become the provider so she could make her home Jeanne’s permanent place. Joy says she needed Jeanne to be safe and happy but was hesitant and wasn’t sure she could actually do it. Nashua Center assured her they would work out something. Joy listened and believed....... After Joy became Jeanne’s guardian and provider, she could be with Jeanne 24 hours a day. A little over 16 years have passed since, and Joy and Jeanne have always been together. They have moved several times, and Jeanne helped pick out their current residence which she calls it “happy home.” Joy says, “At first Jeanne didn’t have the love or the grounding. Now she is more relaxed. Jeanne knows this is her home, and she has strong connections with the church and her family and friends. She doesn’t try to leave on her own, which she would do at her previous program.” “Her mom has supervised visits with her, and her dad sees her every other weekend. They are awesome visits,” says Joy with great pleasure. “Jeanne is very caring and loving,” says Joy. Just some of her many examples: “Jeanne loves to make Christmas cards for soldiers and for many years would mail out cards, and even got a letter thanking her, which made her very proud.” “Jeanne enjoys traveling, walking at the YMCA, and animals. She regularly goes to the local animal shelter where she plays with the cats.” “Jeanne is mobile and understands a lot. When she is home, she’ll say ‘my room,’ when she is in there.” “When my then boyfriend Jeff, now my husband, had to have surgery, she was able to offer her support, and accompanied me to the hospital to visit and helped walk him to the car when he was going home. Jeanne worked her way into his heart. She calls Jeff, ‘friend, friend.’” What Joy does is demanding. “I lost 100 pounds the first year I worked with Jeanne. But the effort is always worth it. Jeanne is my friend, and no one should walk this life alone. I love that girl.” Joy has no children; a decision that came with careful consideration because of the life she chose to lead with Jeanne. About Nashua Center, Joy says, “Nashua Center is always there if Jeanne ever needs anything. They provide money, monitor her medicals, and are an extreme advocate.

Meet Pam

I would like to nominate Pam Lee for Direct Suppport Professional of the month. Pam always has a friendly greeting and happy smile for clients and co-workers. Pam is a team player and is always willing to help others when she can. In order to do this, Pam will make accommodations for her client.
Pam is a one-on-one staff person for Becca. She is so caring and always has Becca’s best interest at heart. Recently, this was tested by some medication changes Becca was going through. It caused Becca to have challenges with seizures at times when being transported to and from Nashua Center, including when in the center and out in the community. These seizures could last up to ten minutes and be extremely stressful. Pam handled all of this calmly and in a very caring manner. Pam is an incredible advocate for Becca, always reporting to her parents and supervisors for any concerns that may arise. Becca’s parents are extremely happy with the care Pam gives their daughter. Supervisors also said that they knew right from the start that Pam would be the right person for Becca. Pam has exceeded their expectations, she does an amazing job! Everyone notes that Pam is very flexible with any changes that arise throughout the day and she goes about her job with grace and a smile.
These reasons are why I feel Pam is so deserving of this recognition!

Meet Donna

This year, Nashua Center is giving the Golden Service Award to Donna McKinley, who provides services as both a Direct Support Professional and as an Enhanced Care Provider in a shared living home. Donna is a remarkable woman. She is raising two children, now young adults, while also being an Enhanced Family Care Provider. Donna also works full-time as a Direct Support Professional in our Day Services program. She manages all of these roles with grace, kindness and thoughtful consideration for all the lives she touches.

Donna started with Nashua Center in 2006 as a Direct Support Professional. She has maintained this role for 13 years. As fate would have it, due to an emergency in late 2016, Donna welcomed Cheryl, a long-time client of Nashua Center, into her home for Enhanced Family Care. Donna was already considering becoming a permanent home care provider and lucky for Cheryl, timing is everything. Cheryl moved in and continues to live with Donna to this day.

One of the most incredible traits that Donna has is her ability to provide both Cheryl and her sons with equal time and attention. As many know, parenting is a challenge on its own, but Donna is capable of being an extraordinary mother while loving and caring for Cheryl with ease. She has gone above and beyond all of our expectations as a home care provider. She has truly welcomed Cheryl into her family while making a conscious effort to ensure Cheryl gets all that she needs, and then some. The bond that Cheryl and Donna have forged is clear when we witness Cheryl’s reaction when she sees Donna, and the feeling is plainly mutual.

I have known Cheryl for over 30 years. Being a close friend of Cheryl’s and a life-long advocate for her services, I cannot put into words what this transition and consistency in care and home have meant to both Cheryl and myself. I have been with Cheryl through many ups and downs, including various roommate situations, and to say that Donna has offered one of the best roommate experiences Cheryl has ever had, is putting it mildly. Donna is thoughtful and consistent with keeping both Cheryl’s family and friends up to date with all of Cheryl’s medical needs. When Cheryl is with someone for respite, Donna is not an “out of sight, out of mind” homecare provider. Donna makes a conscious effort to inquiring about Cheryl’s well-being when they are not together. This speaks volumes to the truly loving relationship that they have and the seriousness that Donna places in her role in Cheryl’s life. She is a model for all to follow.

While Enhanced Family Care has been the most recent addition to Donna’s incredible value and recognition, she continues to work for Nashua Center supporting another person, Beth, as a Direct Support Professional, 35 hours a week. Donna has been Beth’s constant support for over three years now. Donna approaches each day with a positive outlook and strives to assist Beth in being a highly valued member of the community. Donna works hard to ensure Beth has a productive day filled with activities that Beth enjoys. She is consistent with her teaching strategies, but can be flexible when needed based on Beth’s mood or service needs on any given day. Beth has made immense progress with Donna’s support and has handled several residential moves better due to the consistency of Donna in her life.

Donna is the “best of the best” when it comes to the work she does for Nashua Center and deserves the highest of praise for what she brings to this organization and the people who receive our services. We at Nashua Center earnestly believe that Donna is worthy of the Golden Service Award. Donna is kind, compassionate, hardworking and a dedicated person whose commitment and success deserves the utmost recognition.

Meet Tracy

We would like to recognize Tracy Carter for the October 2019 Monthly Service Award. Tracy has worked for Nashua Center since March of 2017. In these past two years Tracy has held several different positions. She began working in our activity room, then took on a team of two individuals and is currently working as a 1 to 1 staff person for Taryn. Tracy has done a great job in all these positions but has really shined as Taryn’s direct support staff person. Tracy and Taryn have developed a remarkable relationship with mutual respect. Tracy keeps Taryn actively involved in activities through the course of the day. She makes sure that the activities that Taryn is involved in are truly based on Taryn’s needs and interests. When Tracy askes for changes in Taryn’s schedule it is always in the best interest of Taryn. She has an enormous amount of patience which comes in handy in her current position. No matter what the day brings Tracy tackles each situation with a smile on her face and a positive attitude. Taryn’s parents could not be happier with how this relationship has developed and love how busy Tracy and Taryn are. They truly appreciate all that Tracy has done.

In addition to how great she is with Taryn she is very supportive of her coworkers and flexible with requests asked of her from her supervisors such as van runs.

Tracy attended an Active Shooter Training and did an excellent job sharing what she learned with her coworkers at an all staff meeting.

Tracy was recently asked to take on additional duties of running a craft class and was very excited at the prospect. She has put a lot of thought and time into what she wants to work on and has conducted the first class which was very successful.

Meet Kaira

We would like to nominate Kaira Santos for the monthly service award for the month of August 2019.

Kaira began working for Nashua Center in the LIFE-OP program on October 2017. Kaira brings a big smile and positive can-do attitude to every situation she is faced with. She works with a variety of abilities all with confidence and ease. She treats each and every individual with dignity and respect.

Kaira is a hard worker with a tremendous amount of patience. She continues to dedicate herself to her clients’ successes by encouraging independence and advocating for themselves to ensure they reach their goals. Kaira lends a helping hand whenever needed. She changes her schedule at a moment's notice, works later without hesitation or complaint and is extremely dependable. Kaira will even schedule her time off to coincide with individuals she works with vacations. When Kaira hears there is a need or a problem she is one of the first to jump up to volunteer or problem solve.

Kaira engulfs herself in what is best for the students. She is never idle and continually comes up with activities that are both stimulating and provides learning opportunities. She shows initiative and creativity; when her students were enrolled in the Functional Literacy/Communication Class she went above and beyond to ensure all her students were prepared and ready to present their research papers and presentation. It took a lot of creativity and organization to make this happen. Most recently, there was a situation where unexpectantly Kaira had to help someone move. When she received the phone call, Kaira answered with, “I got this”! She handled it swiftly, calmly and efficiently. Kaira has been assigned several special projects throughout the year which she has completed every one of them in a timely manner and with little direction. Kaira has proven herself to be an invaluable member of the LIFE-OP team.

Kaira’s dedication, reliability, work ethic and all-around amazing personality makes her a perfect candidate for this award. She is a wonderful employee and we value all that she does.

Meet Nicole

Nikki Hart began her career with Nashua Center in 2015 as a part of the Life-OP program and is now an important member of The Children’s Pyramid team. Nikki’s role as a Family Service Associate is an integral part of our ability to successfully serve numerous children and their families in a variety of ways. Whether it be meeting a new family for the first time at intake, organizing materials for an evaluation or providing resources to assist parents in their effort to make the best choices for their child, Nikki takes great care to ensure that families feel welcome and supported throughout the entire process of entering our program, a time full of questions and concern for many.
Nikki has shown great dedication and flexibility when working with families and other team members and she has demonstrated her ability to step forward and assume additional responsibilities on numerous occasions. As the number of children referred to our program continues to grow and evolve, Nikki has remained professional and positive regardless of a building workload. She is willing to step outside of her role as an FSA and provide supplementary services for children and families who would benefit from additional support of their IFSP goals, and she is a strong team member.
The Children’sPyramid is fortunate to have a team of dedicated employees who support one another as we strive to support children and families every day. Meet Levi

It is without hesitation that we ask to nominate Levi Maxwell for the monthly service award, for the month of March. Levi has been an employee of the Nashua Center since October of 2017 and has worked with a variety of individuals during his time within our program. No matter the individual he works with, or the challenges presented to him, Levi maintains his calm demeanor, neutral body language and optimistic attitude. Within the last year Levi began working as one-to-one staff, focusing his days on working with a single individual. His growth in this past year as a Direct Support Professional has been unparalleled. Levi’s exceptional displays of patience and consistency have resulted in his one-on-one’s progress, productivity and success within the program. When presented with what can sometimes be challenging behaviors, Levi has gone to great lengths to ensure that every avenue has been explored to prevent the behavior. Levi goes above and beyond expectations and works tirelessly to ensure his individuals and others safety. In doing so, he remains one step ahead of every situation that arises. Levi has even brought in his own personal guitar to play music for individuals that find it calming, to help them destress from potentially overstimulating situations. Levi has also maintained excellent attendance throughout his employment, ensuring that he could remain dedicated to his individual’s success and routine. Levi exceeds in his duties; changing his schedule at a moments notice, working later hours and doing anything within his power to guarantee the individuals needs are consistently met. Levi even goes so far as to schedule his time off to coincide with his individuals vacation time; always trying his best not to disrupt the individual’s routines. During his employment with us, Levi has embodied the Nashua Center’s mission statement: safeguarding that those who he works with continue to grow and develop their independence level, so they can become thriving members of their communities. Meet Molly

We would like to nominate Molly Lenart for the Monthly Service Award for the month of January. Molly began working for Nashua Center in the Day Services program starting March 2017. Molly has worked with a diversity of clients throughout the years and treats them all with dignity and respect. She has a tremendous amount of patience and will do anything to enrich the client’s lives. Molly engulfs herself in what is best for the clients. She never idles and continues to come up with activies that are both stimulating and offer learning. When she works with clients who have extensive needs and may require an additional amount of program/paperwork, she independently creates a system to make communication and tracking more effective. Molly takes on these tasks quickly and efficiently without any direction. Molly was a homecare provider for Nashua Center as well. She did an outstanding job and was a great advocate. Molly was proactive with appointments and was extremely sensitive to the changes of her clients. She goes above and beyond assisting Residential Services with emergency respite. When Nashua Center needed to provide training for individuals in residential placement, she dropped everything to help out. Molly is willing to offer a lending hand whether it’s short notice, long hours or requires the need to travel. Despite all the challenges, changes in direction and client schedule conflicts, Molly is flexible and willing to make Nashua Center run smoothly. Meet Jennifer

Jennifer has worked with us for the last year and a half as a DSP in Day Services. She always displays a positive, pleasant, gentle and caring attitude when interacting with her clients no matter the issues and challenges that might arise.
